Prayer of Approach (unison)

God of the ages, we gather for worship

mindful of the heritage of faith and faithfulness

that has been given to us.

Inspire in us today, we pray,

a lively and a living faith.

We ask it in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Hymn # 240 “Praise, My Soul, the God of Heaven”   LAUDA ANIMA

Prayer of Confession (unison)

Merciful God,

we confess that we have sinned against you,

in thought, word, and deed,

by what we have done,

and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you

with all our heart and mind and strength.

We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.

We are truly sorry.

In your mercy forgive what we have been,

help us to amend what we are,

and direct what we shall be;

that we may delight in your will

  and walk in your ways.

  through Jesus Christ.  Amen.
